My grandmother

My grandmother, Nancy Virginia Austin Purser, worked at Ivey's in uptown Charlotte in the 1940s and 1950s. As a small boy, I visited her at work many times. When she died, I received one of her possessions ... An FDR Man of the Hour clock she won in a raffle sponsored by the store to raise funds to support the war effort during WWII. To this day, it is my prized possession. My grandmother loved working at Ivey's.
